Chemical Genetics

No chemicals were found in PubChem that relate to Fibrillin-1 or Marfan Syndrome. This is a potential area of future research. Any drugs that could potentially target the Fibrillin pathway should be considered. Currently all drug therapy involved with Marfan syndrome is primarily to treat problems in the heart, such as the use of Beta-blockers. Other drug research possibilities could take a closer look at the EGF Calcium binding protein domain. However, calcium and calcium binding are involved in a majority of cell functions, hence targeting only the calcium binding of Fibrillin protein is an obstacle to consider. (1)
